Parlee Beach Provincial Park is taking a major step toward improving water quality with the installation of a progressive stormwater treatment system. This innovative infrastructure will capture and filter stormwater runoff, reducing contamination and helping to protect the beach’s natural ecosystem. Designed to address ongoing water quality concerns, the system directs runoff to a new pumping facility for advanced treatment, contributing to a cleaner, healthier shoreline.

With frequent no-swim advisories in recent years due to elevated bacteria levels, this project represents a proactive solution to enhance water safety. Environmental experts emphasize the importance of watershed-wide strategies, and this initiative serves as a model for sustainable stormwater management. By investing in advanced water treatment technology, Parlee Beach is taking initiative in coastal environmental stewardship.
