  • Rare plant assessments;
  • Electrofishing;
  • Data analyses;
  • Reporting.

J.D. Irving (JDI) is advancing renewable energy in New Brunswick with the Brighton Mountain Wind Farm, a $550-million project designed to support the province’s long-term sustainability goals. Recently approved for Phase 1, the project will generate up to 200 megawatts of sustainable wind power through 34 wind turbines in Carleton County. Future expansion could add up to 24 more turbines, pending additional approvals.

JDI partnered with Hatch Ltd. and Boreal Environmental to complete extensive environmental surveys and assessments. The project will implement key mitigation measures, including habitat protection, post-construction wildlife monitoring, and the use of existing forest roads to minimize land disturbance. As the project moves forward, ongoing engagement with stakeholders and the local community will play a key role in shaping its development, with the potential to contribute to reducing carbon emissions and expanding New Brunswick’s renewable energy capacity.
